On 14/6/2004, comrade Abdullah Al-Ahmar, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Baath Arab Socialist party, received Fassos Lisarides, Cypriote presidential envoy honorary president of the socialist party in Cyprus. Lisarides confirmed his country's support to Syria position towards peace process; to her efforts to recover her occupied land in Al-Golan and to her standing by the Arab Palestinian people in ending the occupation, recovering their occupied land, establishing their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital and the return of the refugees.
Regarding the Iraqi affair, both sides confirmed on the importance of : The unity of Iraq, putting an end to the occupation, respecting the Iraqi people's option in choosing who represents them and giving the United Nations a central role.
