Assistant Secretary General of the Baath Arab Socialist Party, Abdullah al-Ahmar discussed on Saturday 16.10.2004 with Mr. Mesud Barazani, Chairman of Kurdistan Democratic Party in Iraq, and the accompanying delegation, the standing bilateral partisan relations, the situation in Iraq and its repercussions on the Iraqi people, neighboring countries, and on the region.
During the meeting, the two sides expressed interest in the stability and security in Iraq and in the restoration of its independence and full sovereignty over its territories and resources, as well as, the preservation of its unity.
Stress was also made on the necessity for exerting efforts to consolidate the national unity of the Iraqi people in order to put an end to the occupation, rebuild a democratic unified Iraq without any foreign intervention, and prepare the atmosphere for reconciliation and popular participation in the internal building process.
