Assistant Secretary General of al-Ba'ath Arab Socialist Party Abdullah al-Ahmar discussed on 11.12.2006 with Dr. Essop Pahad, the minister of the Presidency of South Africa, the bilateral relations between the Baath Party and the African National Conference and the ways of developing them to meet the demands of the two friendly countries.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged viewpoints concerning the situations in the region and in the African continent.
Al-Ahmar underlined Syria's full support to the Palestinian people until they liberate their lands and attain just and comprehensive peace. He, also, confirmed support to the political process in Iraq in order to realize its national interests, end the occupation and preserve the country's unity and stability.
Al-Ahmar referred that the war on Iraq under the slogan of combating the mass destruction weapons was just a pretext to control the region's wealth.
For his part, Pahad expressed his country's support to Syria exerted efforts for realizing security and stability in the region and restoring occupied Golan in addition to attain just and comprehensive peace in accordance with the UN resolutions.
The two sides assured their adherence to activate the relations between the two countries in the economic, political, informative, cultural and party fields.
