On 6/ 12 /2007 Assistant Secretary General of al-Baath Arab Socialist party Abdullah al-Ahmar discussed with leader of the Sudanese Ummah party al- Sadeq al-Mahdi the situation in the region, particularly in Iraq Lebanon and Palestine .
Talks during the meeting dealt with the situation in Sudan and importance of enhancing national unity to face foreign schemes targeting Sudan's land, treasures and future.
Dr. al-Mahdi expressed appreciation of Syria's national and supportive stances to Sudan in facing the problems it encounters.
