On 29/ 1/ 2007 Member of the Regional Leadership of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party the Head of Culture & Information Bureau Dr. Haitham Satayhi confirmed that the occupation is the reason of all problems in the Middle east in his speech in New Delhi conference of the peace and non violence. He pointed to the fact that ending of the violence in the region is connected directly with the ending of the occupation on one hand and respecting and applying international resolutions on the other hand.
Satayhi asserted that Syria with applying international resolutions to solve the Arab-Israeli conflict, he called democratic institutions and people loving peace to pressure on Israel to end occupation and applying international resolutions the conference opened in New Delhi to Commemorate a 100 years of Satyagraha of Mahatma Gandhi. It was under the address "Peace, Non-Violence and Empowerment, Gandhian Philosophy in 21st Century". the conference was organized by the Indian national congress. Delegations from 75 countries and 150 non-governmental organization had attended the conference.
